Dell Laptop RAM and Windows Vista Question...?

I am thinking about getting a Dell Laptop. It has Windows Vsta on it i haven't heard the greatest things about Vista. I know it uses a lot of memory... Will 2 GB be enough or should I even upgrade it to 3 or 4 GB?? Also, would anyone recommend Vista?? I know Dell has 2 laptops yet that still have XP on them but I don't feel like spending the extra money for them. They are more expensive laptops than the one I was looking at with Vista. Also, does most newer software like Norton Antivirus 2008 work on Vista?? I know there are some issues with software working on it but if I just got the software, is it likely to work?? Thanks a lot for your help.

Dell Laptop RAM and Windows Vista Question...?norton 360

Dell, Vista and Norton 2008 go hand in hand. Vista has become stable with newer updates. I have Dell inspiron with 2g of memory and am using norton 2008 IS. And Dell is cheaper than any other brand, also the best in after-service. So why wait? 2gb is more than enough for vista home premium.

2GB Ram is enough for vista. I also recommend you vista because it has more hardware and software security and less effective by a virus, but norton antivirus 2008 and earlier version doesn't support vista(but if you install their supportage add on they will support Win Vista).if you want a norton anti virus for Vista i suggest you buy a norton 360.it is fully compatible with Vista(both x86 and x64).
Yes, Vista is worth it and ... honestly it's time to move on =]

2 GB is enough in my opinion unless you plan to do some heavy gaming or Graphic editing in it.

Yes, Norton works BUT Norton is the worst antivirus to get in my opinion.
I have a rule that says do not touch a new version of microsoft rubbish software until the first service pack has been issued and shown not to cock things up even more.

2Gb should be OK.

Older devices like printers may not work with Vista.
2gb is realistic minimum.. but... upgrade.. if you can afford it - it'll be worth it
