Yes, something is probably still there. Download and do a scan with Spybot and Adaware, also Hijack this. Then go to Start\Run and type msconfig. Go to the Startup tab and uncheck all of the unnecessary things that are running at start up.

To learn more about MSCONFIG go here - http://www.vermontpcsolutions.com/how_to...
go to start - run - and type in prefetch. Delete everything in that folder. Do this every time you want to shut down your PC. This will prevent unwanted programs from starting when your computer starts.
There is defiantly a virus slowing your system down..there are several free online scans you can use..house call, trend micro, and others,,do a search for one.
Obviously you still have a problem. A quick soultion to try to repair your PC's status back to a working state ( even works If you had a trojan and/or virus problem) is to use the system restore utility. To use this tool from the start menu click (all) programs %26gt; accesories %26gt; systems tools %26gt; system restore. simply follow the easy to use wizard which will ask you for a date to restore your PC to. Make sure you pick a date just before the problem occured. Note : if you have made any changes to software / hardware / settings after the date you have selected you may have to redo these changes. Ie. re-install a software package that you originally installed after the date you have selected for system restore.
