How do I stop these annoying pop ups?

I keep getting these popups saying that i need to clean my registry and each popup says I need to go to a different website to download a tool to fix it. Oviously i am not going to the website, and my virus software (norton antivirus 2007) does not detect a virus. I checked task manager to see what was running this and it came up with csrss.exe. I tried to end it to see if it was a virus version, but it said it was a critical system process and would not end it. How do I stop these viral like popups?

A surefire way is to download HijackThis! (note that the name is named to taunt malware, and not actually one itself). Run the program and note all the unknown processes, and check via Google. Once you find the offending process, simply checkmark and fix. Restart your computer to see if it's still there.

If that doesn't work, google the rest of the known processes, as it can be a trojan.

If that STILL proves ineffective, you've got a hardy malware on your hands, my friend. In this case you have to restart your computer in safe mode (press an F# key while your computer loads, F5 on most computers), then delete the process again.

For further protection, download spybot and adaware and get a firewall (I recommend Kerio). Update them before scanning. I hope this works for you!!
