How can I get the best features from AVG?

Hi. I have AVG antivirus and AVG anti-spyware installed in my laptop. I've had some bad experiences with other antivirus softwares, and I would like to know what can I do to improve my security protection. I don't know if having AVG is enough? Some times my computer gets really lazy and slow and I am afraid it is infected and that the antivirus is not working properlly.

I have AVG anti virus and it seems to be doing its job just fine no problams as yet, make sure you have a decent firewall installed to though, I have PC Tools Firewall and love it easy to use for the beginner.

AVG is very nice and easy to use. You should not have any problems using either of them. But if you have AVG anti-spyware's free version, then its resident shield will (or will have been) turned off after 30 days. In that case, you must consider buying it or using another anti-spyware with real-time protection.
I only use AVG Free edition, after poor norton and mcaffee results - and I wasn't gonna pay for something when I could get a free 1 that's as good or better. I use AVG version 7.5.432 anti-virus. Don't know their antispyware much, but automatic updates fo this are available only on the paid version, I believe.
